MUSITANO'S RELATIVES GET SUPRISE WHEN THEY AWAKE

We all know that Pasquale "Pat" Musitano was gunned down.  We know that there is a lot of complications and rumors as to why this happened.  However what happened two days ago, is speaking volumes, and after doing some digging and talking to some people in Montreal and Hamilton, I think I have a firmer grip on what is actually going on.

Relatives of Pat Musitano woke up to the word "RAT" painted on their garage, and two the cars in the driveway were lit on fire.  On it's hinges every single mob platform I have come across is getting it wrong.  They make wild assertions, and don't think in terms of the streets.

Guiseppe "Pino" Avignone's home was the home which was vandalized and whose cars were set ablaze.   What these sites aren't accurately explaining is that Giuseppe was in the car with Musitano when he got clipped.  He walked away virtually unscathed.   The reason for the word "RAT," is not because Avignone is an informant.  It's a street code for you gave up Pat to his enemies.  Pat Musitano wasn't taking unnecessary risks with his enemies.  After his brother Angelo got hit, Pat had his suv armored.   From the glass to the body, the car could have taken a bomb. Pat, while taking a semi-low profile, wasn't hiding, but he wasn't making it easy for his enemies either.  He knew people wanted him dead.

Think of all the steps, that Pat would have taken.  "He was always taking three or four back ways, never the same route.  He didn't text where he was going.  He would have noticed a car following him. To pin him down to one location, was almost impossible, unless they knew exactly where he was going to be, and in this case, his assailants knew where he would be,"  said someone who wished to remain silent would tell me late last night.

It makes sense too.  With law enforcement surveillance, and with enemies all around him, he wouldn't put himself in the middle of a parking lot, he'd be leaving himself in danger if he was followed.     Avignone is no stranger to the streets, having committed a mob murder (Domenic Racco) on behalf of the Musitano's in which he served a 5 year sentence.  He's widely known as a close relative of the Musitano's.   What this comes down to, is simple, and I don't understand why these mob sites are getting it wrong.  Maybe they don't have contacts or they have watched too many mob films.  Not everything is as it seems.

SO WHAT'S THE DEAL?

We can look at this several ways.  First, N'drangheta is the likely culprit, and it makes the most sense as far as the hit on Pat Musitano.  That frustration goes back to when Pat drew their ire taking the Sicilian side of things in Hamilton versus the Calabrian side of things.  They felt Pat simply took the Rizzuto's side of the fence because it offered him more protection, then just being on his own.  It's a Sicilian/Calabrian pissing contest, and it appears N'drangheta is winning ten fold.  The bad blood goes back a long way between Musitano and his Calabrian counter parts.   So the question is, did N'drangheta hit the button or not?   It depends on who you talk to but it makes the most logical sense.  However, if you know the streets, you will understand that often not everything is as it seems.  Nobody thought Sylvester Zottola's son would have hit his own father, and he turns out he did.  This could be, a hit from within, from within the Musitano crime family.

"If anyone had anything to gain, at least financially from the hit on Pat, it would be Guiseppe.  He would be the most logical guy to take over the family business.  He was tight with Pat.  If anyone had the balls to do it, it would be Giuseppe."  the same person would tell me.

It doesn't mean Guiseppe was behind it, and I'm not suggesting it.  However, if you look at the trend in mob hits in Canada, it's very rare that they leave living victims.  It's not N'drangheta's m.o.   The target wasn't anyone else but Pat.  So, yes, we can easily think maybe this was an inside job, but the fact that the vandalism happened, tells me that the streets, or at least someone from within the Musitano crime family thinks that Guiseppe set him up.   I also know, some will say, that what could stop Guiseppe from doing that to his own home to throw off heat.   Just doesn't make sense.  The last thing you want is even more attention from law enforcement.   Some will say what would stop N'drangheta from doing that to throw shade, and to get the cops heading the other direction.  That doesn't make sense either.

The one thing, I think is certain, is that Musitano was likely hit by N'drangheta, and not from the inside of the Musitano crime family.  The problem is, you may have those within the Musitano crime family who believe that Guiseppe set him up in some sort of fashion.  I don't think logically that Pat fell asleep at the wheel, but he also had people with him to defend him, and he dropped his guard, and that's more likely the scenario here, but it's not gonna stop those within the family of being angry.  Perhaps some who had desires of their own to take over the family.  What I can tell you is this.  There is going to be a big power struggle now within the family.   What will be telling is who steps up to take over now.  Also, watch for retribution, because that will be the biggest indicator of who the Musitano's feel is responsible.
