N'DRANGHETA BEHIND HITS ON RIZZUTO CRIME FAMILY

If we go back just a year and a half ago, Canada has been like the wild wild west.  Murder after murder after murder.  We covered many aspects of what was going on, and we knew the players.  While I speculated that N'drangheta was likely a part of it, I also considered that the Hells Angels, as well as the remnants of Cotroni crime family were also involved.  There is just too much turf, to much money to be made, and with the Rizzuto's appearing as if they were losing the battle, we have a lot of confirmation at this point, exactly the reasons why, and it's not really a shock to me, nor should it be to you. NARCOTICS.

The Rizzuto crime family, has been fighting a wars for decades, this is nothing new.  However, in a relatively short period of time they took some serious hits.   What is true, is that N'drangheta made several moves to try and create a hostile takeover of Montreal, Hamilton, and the drug market.

The murders of Rocco Sollecito and Lorenzo Giordano, sparked off a war.  Not long after Sollecito and Giordano were gunned down, the Rizzuto's pressed for action whacked Salvatore Scoppa, who was considered a leader of an N'drangheta faction.  He was killed in a hail of gunfire in a hotel lobby.  It's widely believed that Scoppa believed that the Rizzuto's were encroaching on N'drangheta turf, and Scoppa picked up the phone, ordering  Jonathan Massari to handle it which he did.  

The Rizzuto's and N'drangheta have been vying for power for a long time, and it was widely considered at the time that the Rizzuto's who had been dragged into a kill or be killed type of scenario were going to lose the battle as N'drangheta was racking up bodies like an NBA score.   The other factor was that, the Cotroni crime family has long had issues with the Rizzuto's that go back to the 40's.  What changed the stalemate in the war, was the Rizzuto's were able to align with the Hells Angels.  It not only backed them with numbers, but it also held the lines tight on trafficking.  Not long after that circulated through the underworld, a meeting was held between rival factions, and a cease fire was agreed on.

Not long after Johnathan Massari, Dominico Scarfo, Guy Dion, and Marie-Josee Viau were arrested for the murder of Rocco Sollecito and  Lorenzo Giordano.   What makes that arrest all the more interesting is that a woman was involved.  Massari allegedly was responsible for handling the day to day operations of the narcotics trafficking.   The RCMP is also investigating the four arrested for the murders and disappearance of  Vincenzo and Giuseppe Falduto, who were fringe associates of Marco Pizzi, who was a Rizzuto loyalist. 

Massari, who has indicted himself apparently on wiretaps, admitting to committing murders on behalf of N'drangheta. Massari according the RCMP is the quasi- leader in a faction that widely controls the drug market in certain areas of Montreal, specifically meth and ecstasy. 

While things have calmed down in comparison to 2016, as long as both sides are beefing over turf and money, I don't expect a cease fire to last, however, with Massari off the streets, considering the allegations that he was behind the moves against the Rizzuto's, at least by proxy, maybe a cease fire will last.
