RIZZUTO'S ALLEGEDLY CALL CEASE FIRE?
For the last six years, Canada has resembled a bit of the Wild West. In perhaps what can truly be described at gangland warfare, we have seen multiple murders. 30 plus to be exact in the last six years. What many don't understand is the politics of it all. There is long standing hatreds, vendetta's so to speak, but it all revolves around money, turf, and bad memories.
According to the RCMP, and those with more intel about the situation in Canada, the Rizzuto crime family which in recent years has really struggled to retain it's grip in Montreal and Ontario, has seen their leadership getting killed left and right in brazen gangland hits. The Rizzuto's directly have suffered the ramifications of these wars for decades.
What makes Canada a little different in respects to say New York, is that you don't just have the five families. Your dealing with N'drangheta, The Hells Angels, and smaller crime families all competing for the drug trade, weapons trade, and the tobacco trade. Most of the murders have put emphasis on these groups wanting to dismantle, destroy and weaken the Rizzuto's to the point where subgroups can take over. I myself believed the Rizzuto's likely would be decimated to the point where they would lose strongholds and rackets to these other groups. N'drangheta especially I felt, was the next group to take over. I was wrong. The Rizzuto's have dug their heels in and remained strong.
What is being said, is that the Rizzuto's reached some sort of deal with the Hells Angels, albeit a partnership of sorts. Bringing the Angels into the fold makes the Rizzuto's stronger. Not only it is a business decision which makes sense for both sides, but also puts fringe groups, and other organized crime groups in check in many ways. Allegedly, and I don't have anything solid I can post to prove it, but it seems like the Rizzuto's bringing the Hells Angels into the fold, forcibly put all the warring sides together to call a cease fire, enabling them to work on making money versus headlines. For years the Hells Angels have controlled the market as far as drugs and tobacco go. One of the more interesting warring issues was control of the Native Reservations. If they could control the reservations, they could control the tobacco. It's a multi-million dollar business for everyone, and in fact that's what led to the Rizzuto's killing infamous WWE professional wrestler Dino Bravo.
After Salvatore Scoppa and Andrew Scoppa got whacked, it signaled the end may be nearing as the Calabrian Scoppa's were attempting a coup to assert control of the Montreal mob. The Rizzuto's bringing the Angels into the fold stacks the deck, meanwhile other mob fringe groups were attempting to subterfuge the biker gang. What also bolsters the Rizzuto clan, is the emerging friendship or partnership between the Rizzuto's and Vittorio Mirachi, who at one time was a high ranking Capo under Raynald Desjardins who at one point was also trying to take over the Rizzuto crime family. As Desjardins exits prison soon, it's hard to imagine he will live very long. If he gets out and leaves it alone, they would likely shelve him, but if he makes waves, the shooting will begin again.
How quiet things will stay, is going to depend on money. If N'drangheta or other groups begin to infringe on turf, or something like a money deal goes south, I don't think it will take much for the bullets to begin again, but at least it appears now, all sides are content to slow their roll.
