MERLINO GETS 2 WEEK REDUCTION, FOUR MONTHS NEXT?
For "Skinny Joey" Merlino, the dice are coming up clean. I say that because he just recently got a two week reduction in his sentence.
Back in October Joey was sentenced to two years in prison for a gambling charge. A charge which Merlino admitted If I remember correctly taking $2,500 dollars from a win. It was a lousy charge, and one that probably shouldn't have really been as big a deal as the government made it to be, but when you take into all the accounts of absurdities that they have levied at Merlino for decades, perhaps all's well that ends well.
The fact that gambling essentially now is legal, at least in casino's as far as sports betting, it's pretty shallow for the Government to want to hold onto a joke charge like that, but as stated above, when your Joey Merlino, and everyone including the Government makes wild claims and assertions, that were NOT backed up in court testimony, it's just the sort of thing you have to just accept and move on from.
The lesser of two evils is sometimes taking a pinch for the sake of not being bankrupted by the federal government. Remember, we've talked about this before. The Government has a blank check and can just keep dragging you in and out of court. I don't care what the pundits or journalists say, because reality is they only attended the trial towards the end, and missed key parts of testimony which made John Rubeo(the laughable star witness). I've seen a lot of trials, but never one where the witness in the case looked borderline slow, appeared on drugs, and broke God knows how many witness rules while under the FBI's jurisdiction. Rubeo was so awful, he even found out who I was, and laid threats at me non stop for weeks. He called himself "AN AMERICAN HERO," which in reality he was an "ABSOLUTE ZERO." I tend to really analyze people when they talk, and this guy was super defensive at me, as I put out fact after fact after fact. Facts don't lie, but stool pigeons and rodents, and crumbs like Rubeo do. His testimony was laughable.
With Donald Trumps new prisoner reform act, many are using it to shed reductions in sentence. Merlino was granted a two week shave off his sentence by that act. Merlino according to the FBI BOP is due out 7/27/2020, however one of the arguments that Edwin Jacobs made to Judge Sullivan at sentencing is that Joey should be credited with an additional four months off, due to the four months he spent in prison after a judge revoked his supervised prison relief in 2014. At the time of sentencing Judge Sullivan said no to the additional time, however it's my understanding that Joey has appealed that decision, and if granted, he could home to celebrate the holidays. The reality of that further reduction remains to be seen, but we're all hoping that the courts see it that way and Joey will be home sooner rather than later.
