he Feds released shortly after Narducci's Alleged Philadelphia Capo, Philip Narducci was denied bail on Tuesday in court, and will have to likely sit and wait for his trial, before he sees the outside again. Narducci, is alleged by the federal government to have been shylocking on the streets.
What is known for the most part is the details unsealed in the indictment the Feds released shortly after Narducci's arrest. In the indictment Narducci, along with alleged associate James Gallo used "extortionate means to collect money owed." I'm not going to regurgitate the indictment here but in short form, more or less, allegedly this guy "Rabbie," whom we now know as "VICTIM A" wanted to procure a loan. Prior to that the FBI was looking into someone else, whom that person is, we still don't know. Rabbie had allegedly asked for a $20,000 dollar loan from Philip Narducci, and agreed to whatever the terms of that loan were. The problem is, Rabbie continued to welsh on the loan, and according to the indictment, Philip Narducci was a little less than satisfied with the apparent non payment plan Rabbie had in place.
According to the indictment, Narducci visited Rabbie(Whose Lebanese) at his place of employment which was a barbershop to find out why the payment wasn't being made. According to Robbie, Narducci threw him across the room, and threw him into a car, pushing his head against the window. Then according to the indictment, Narducci sent associate James Gallo to collect. This is where things get a little weird.
Gallo allegedly used Phil's name, or at least in some form described Phil, and even implicated or hinted that Narducci was the perpetrator in multiple murders and would "strangle him, but no kill him."
While Rabbie was meeting with the FBI, he dropped information to them, about Narducci and that's how this all got started. The FBI was looking into someone else, but he offered Narducci by allegedly saying "I did borrow money from Phil Narducci." The Feds wired him up, and I would argue they supplanted Robbie with the payoff money.
Entrapment? This case on it's merits, if it has any, really is going to be the tapes. If the tapes clearly define that Narducci did in fact make an appearance, then I'm not sure how much one can really ague about extortion, or at least an attempt to collect money on a bad loan. However, if Narducci was never heard on tape, then this becomes a fish story. It becomes a giant shit show of he said she said. I would love to ask the FBI how they go from investigating one person, and this punk drops a dime on two others because he made a stupid decision. Robbie should be charged for being stupid. What happens when you get pinched for not telling on your friends? You get arrested for the same crime or a conspiracy charge. It's the all for one, one for all argument the prosecution always makes.
I think on the merits, if their are any, is going to be, why in the hell did Gallo, if true, even mention anyone else's name? Was Narducci actually involved or was this Gallo acting on his own accord, attempting to illicit a payback using a much respected and tough name from South Philly to further prove his gusto?
I'm not laying blame on Gallo at all, I'm simply thinking out loud. There are a few variables to play out here. What is unfortunate, and what has a lot of people scratching their heads is why Phil would even entertain that nonsense when his restaurant was doing so well? The FBI sorta fell into this one because "RABBIE" gave up that information. It's that simple, or is it?
I've said this all along about others. You do time, the FBI won't let you succeed./ Philip does his time, gets out, busts his ass, and now look. It's not just Philly, it's New York, New Jersey, Rhode Island, this shit happened all over the place. We can argue the odds and use the old adage that no gangster changes his spots but it's bullshit. If there is one guy who changed his life, it's Philip. I don't believe any of these charges and of course like many of you I will wait and see what comes of it but it's a tragedy in many ways that we are still rewards animals and low-lives to give information on someone which is usually fabricated. Think about it, Gallo wasn't enough to make the FBI hard. It would take a bigger name, and they got it.
