FEDS PLAYING THE SAME OLD GAME, THIS TIME WITH STEVEN CREA

One of the things I harp on a lot a lot when it comes to the Federal Governments assertions when it comes to organized crime cases, is the mere fact that information gets distorted and changed from beginning to end.  You would think if the government is going to levy allegations, arrest those accused, they would have an open and shut case.  You'd also think they would have their ducks in a row.

What we are going to talk about today, is another glowing example of the Government not exactly being honest, not exactly telling the absolute truth and nothing but the truth.  We have talked at length about the shenanigans that happened in the Joey Merlino trial, and we have discussed the fact that both Carmine Persico and Tony Salerno were both convicted mainly on the words of informants, and that Persico and Salerno respectively were charged at the heads of crime families when when the FBI came to realize that it wasn't the case.

In the case of Persico, he wasn't the official boss yet.  In the case of Tony Salerno, he was caught on a wiretap discussing the books opening in other families, and an associate was running though those names, and in the confusion Tony says "I don't know any of these people, just give it to the boss, let him handle it."  Salerno of course was talking about Vincent "The Chin" Gigante who at the time was in fact the boss.  It's also known that the FBI knew through informants, and others that Vincent the Chin was actually the boss, but the federal government didn't disclose that information in this particular case.  Both Persico and Salerno in technical terms were convicted of something they weren't.

This isn't an argument or excuse for anything, but the reality is if your going to get convicted for being the boss of a family, perhaps it's incumbent that you actually be the boss of said crime family.  All that being said we move to the Lucchese case that dropped last year including Matthew Maddona, Steven Crea Sr, and Steven Crea Jr, Chris Londonio, and Terrence Caldwell.  The massive racketeering case named all men who as the government alleges are organized crime figures in the Lucchese crime family.

The indictment also includes the 2013 murder of Michael Meldish, who was the former purple gang leader.  Meldish was hit outside of a Brooklyn residence while sitting in the front seat of a car. There have been a lot of rumors as for the murder itself, how
ever the government is alleging it was a "sanctioned hit by the Lucchese crime family."

Steven Crea's attorney is arguing that the federal government is playing both ends of the stick in the truth category, and is asking that Crea be granted bail.  The argument is that the feds have used less than honest testimony regarding Crea in an attempted to keep him locked up without bail.   Just recently court papers were filed in which Crea's attorney states that "the prosecution failed to alert the judge that their informant against Steven Crea had earlier made up a different story in regards to the Meldish murder, during a bail hearing."

That witness Frank Pasqua III, has a history of lying to the feds.  If this sounds familiar it should.  Merlino snitch JR Rubeo had the same exact issue at trial.  Not only did he downplay and omit many of his own actions, but inserted Joey Merlino into events and situations that never happened, never took place.  In the case specifically regarding Rubeo, he had robbed an offshore betting company, and was running in fear beginning Merlino to help him out of a jam.
To go back even further, Rubeo was caught selling drugs behind Patsy Parello's back, and then offered up his services to the FBI to try and lure Merlino into criminality, so he could get a reduction in his sentence.  We have seen this a million times already.

Pasqua was a drug dealing, a involved in a smaller mafia crew that ran with Steven Crea and his father alleged by the prosecution, however in 2015 Pasqua told the FBI that it was his father Frank Pasqua Jr who had actually killed Michael Meldish, while he stood close by.  He followed that up soon after with admitting he lied saying that "its was not his father, but that Steven Crea had told him the murder took place and that it was a sanctioned hit by the Lucchese's."

Back in January the Judge blasted the prosecution to be very attentive to the charges and accusations they were levying against Steven Crea in an effort to keep him in jail.  From direct paperwork, the following: "The government has said that Frank Pasqa III is the aforementioned informant against Steven Crea in respect to the Michael Meldish murder, however the prosecution failed to alert the court about his previous false accounts of the murder."  The defense would go on to say that Pasqua was a liar, a junkie, a wife beater, and routinely physically beat his own mother."

The defense would continue to argue it's point. They would remind the judge of his warnings, and despite that the government still played games. The judge would order that Crea be remanded, but would be up for a bailing hear in January.  He also reminded the prosecution to make sure that anything they brought further was solid.  No more mistakes.   A fourth bailing hearing was ordered and the prosecution has yet to file a motion.

What this all means is simple on it's face.  This is the feds, doing what they have always done.  They inflate the truth, they use bottom feeding garbage pails to testify against others and turn a blind eye to the fact that they are allowing scum to say what they want as long as it meets the bottom line.  We have seen this in about every mob trial ever.  Sammy Gravano lied repeatedly on the stand, and the minute that Anthony "Gaspipe" Casso began to refute Gravano's lies(specifically narcotics trafficking) the feds took away Casso's deal.  They alleged at the time it was his behavior in prison, but the truth is, he was directly refuting what Gravano had said all along and that was a huge problem for the government.  Sammy would go on to get caught in Arizona for drug trafficking, so I guess in  the end, the one time Casso told the truth was then.

The government has a blank check when it comes to going after the mafia.  I have a hard time digesting how child rapists, and wife beaters get a slap on the wrist and a guy who places a bet goes to federal prison for five years.  The government has long been lopsided in it's morality.  All you have to do is look at the case of Greg Scarpa, who was allowed to kill at will while on the payroll.  He was also spoon fed addresses of informants.  Yet nobody stands up to ask why these supervisory agents aren't in prison themselves.  Look at Whitey Bulger and John Connolly.  Same thing.  Whitey fed him junk, Connolly made stuff up and Whitey vanished into thin air for 20 years.  Listen, I'm not making an argument that anyone whose been alleged to be something isn't. I'm also not alleging that the government lies in every single aspect of a criminal case.  I am simply telling you they aren't honest in general.  If the bottom line represents a goal, believe me they would parade a necrophiliac if it met the bottom line, the gold shit standard that is the FBI.  It's dollars and cents and high conviction rates.

They allow informants to lie, collect money, don't penalize them even when they break FBI guidelines.  The system is corrupt, and there needs to be real oversight into the investigations and how the government protects assets who are the slimiest of creatures.when it comes to the federal governments assertions when it comes to organized crime cases, is the mere fact that information gets distorted and changed from beginning to end.  You would think if the government is going to levy allegations, arrest those accused, they would have an open and shut case.  You'd also think they would have their ducks in a row.
